Potatoes!

Hi all,

We can get potatoes from Beth LaShell at the Old Fort again this year!     If you would like to order them please come to the meeting on Tuesday at 6pm and I will get the numbers to Beth.  As usual it is a really sweet deal, $3/bag of about 7 potatoes, russets a few less, fingerlings a few more. Here are the available varieties.

Banana Fingerling – Yellow late-season potato (85-100 days); Banana shaped, waxy-type tubers with firm texture when baked, boiled or steamed; Produces heavy yields of medium sized tubers and has shown excellent field resistance to disease

 

Colorado Rose – red skin, white flesh; mid season (70-80 days); good for traditional red potato dishes

 

Mesa Russet– white;  medium maturing dual purpose russet with fresh and processing potential.  Tubers are oblong-long with a dark russet skin.  It has a high yield potential and a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers.

 

Midnight Moon –  medium maturing dual purpose russet with fresh and processing potential.  Tubers are oblong-long with a dark russet skin.  It has a high yield potential and a high percentage of US No. 1 tubers.

 

Mt Rose – red, both flesh and skin; mid season (70-80 days); good for chips, fries, baking; and mashing

 

Purple Majesty – bluish-purple, both flesh and skin; mid-season (70-80 days); good baked or broiled

 

Red Luna – medium maturing fresh market specialty with red skin and yellow flesh.  It has high yield potential and attractive oblong tubers

 

Sangre – Red Potato            ; Mid-season (70-80 days); Very dark red skinned round to oblong tubers, dug early for an abundance of small red tubers

 

Yukon Gold – yellow skin and flesh; early season (55-65 days); good for all types of preparation
